Back in the Wrath of the Lich King expansion, there was one item that all classes preparing for either raiding or PvP wanted to have: A Level 80 Darkmoon trinket.
Be it Greatness, Illusion, Death or Berserker!-all four of the level 80 Darkmoon trinkets reached superstar status in World of Warcraft as respective specs sought to wear them for their bonus stats and on-equip effects. But with the arrival of the Cataclysm expansion, the long reign of this revered foursome is ending: Make way for the level 85 Darkmoon trinkets!
Level 85 Darkmoon trinkets are now the new must-haves of Cataclysm, fetching for tens of thousands of WoW Gold at the auction house.
Like their predecessors, level 85 Darkmoon trinkets need you to collect cards from Ace to eight, which can be turned into a whole deck and turned in to the Darkmoon Faire for the free trinket and bonus reputation. You can buy each individual card from scribes of the inscription profession at a bargain price, but if you're about to raid and need a quick trinket worthy of Cataclysm raiding, it's simply fastest to purchase a completed deck.
There are five level 85 decks, all at ilevel 359, that you can choose from depending on your class and spec.
Melee or ranged attackers can get the Hurricane Deck, which can be turned in for the Darkmoon Card: Hurricane trinket. It has an ilevel 359 value and gives a +321 Agility stat boost. More important is the on-equip chance to strike enemies for 3750 to 6250 Nature damage with each melee or ranged attack.
Death knights, Feral and Cat druids, hunters, Retribution and Holy paladins, rogues, Enhancement shamans, and warriors can all benefit from the additional DPS brought by the Darkmoon Card: Hurricane trinket.
Offensive spell casters spend their WoW Gold on the Volcano Deck, which can be turned in for the Darkmoon Card: Volcano trinket. It bestows +321 mastery rating and allows a chance for damaging spells to cause 900 to 1500 additional Fire damage and gain +1600 Intellect for 12 seconds.
Mages, Balance druids, Shadow priests, Elemental shamans, and warlocks are the best candidates for wearing Darkmoon Card: Volcano. Although some quirky specs like the Shockadins (Holy paladins who go offensive with their damage spells) could get mileage out of this trinket as well.
Healers should seek the Tsunami Deck, which can be turned in for the Darkmoon Card: Tsunami trinket. It grants +321 Intellect and gives healing spells a chance to increase spirit by 80 for 20 seconds, a buff that stacks up to five times for a possible +400 spirit at a given time.
All five healing specs across the druid, paladin, priest and shaman classes can equip the Darkmoon Card: Tsunami and see their healing performance rise. The bonus Intellect will expand mana pools and allow them to heal bigger, while the bonus Spirit procs will amp up the mana regeneration needed to last just a bit longer in progression fights or PvP match-ups.
Lastly, Tanks should get the Earthquake Deck, which can be turned in for the Darkmoon Card: Earthquake trinket. It gives a +321 dodge rating and has an on-use ability that increases maximum health by 11500 for 15 seconds, available on cooldown every three minutes.
While the HP boost shares a cooldown with other Battlemaster's trinkets, the Darkmoon Card: Earthquake trinket is still a great emergency option for all tanks. Druid bears, Blood death knights Protection paladins and Protection warriors should not hesitate to plunk down WoW Gold for this lifesaver trinket that can save them from sure death in Cataclysm.
Remember that the Darkmoon Faire only arrives once a month in World of Warcraft so make sure to purchase your completed deck ahead of time to avoid waiting weeks to turn it in for your level 85 trinket.
